Why is Digg broken?

It has become the story of my life: "There was a problem completing your request. Please reload the page and try again."
So, I reload the page, and try to digg the article, or try to digg some comment up or down. Then, this happens:

After about a dozen reloads, I am finally able to digg a single comment. But once I try to digg another: "There was a problem completing your request. Please reload the page and try again."

And so the cycle begins anew.

Is it because I'm using Safari 3.1? (I get the same error messages in Firefox.) Is it because I have multiple tabs open with different Digg pages? Is it because Macs suck? Is it because Digg is inherently broken?

I tried to submit this blog post to Digg, and got:

This was later resolved by submitting in Firefox.

I love Digg, but constantly getting error messages when I actually try to use the site makes me wonder if I should start shopping around for an alternative social news service.

Any suggestions?

Update: I've noticed that the problem I described in the blog post seems to reproduce heavily with Safari 3 on digg.com, especially when multiple tabs are open. I've now switched to Firefox, and rarely see the message appear, again with multiple tabs open. I still think it seems to be a problem with digg's code, but it is much more apparent with Safari than Firefox.

Update 2: After months of testing, I can confirm that Digg just doesn't work with Safari and multiple tabs. Firefox will give the same error message only after the page being idle for over 20 minutes. But in Firefox, simply reloading the page fixes the error. In Safari, 50 reloads in a row *might* allow me to digg a single item on the page. Maybe Digg and Apple's developers should fix this giant and annoying bug?
